Carlo Rovelli is an Italian theoretical physicist and writer who has worked worldwide in the US, UK and Italy, and is currently the head of the Equipe de Gravite Quantique at the Theoretical Physics Dept of Aix-Marseille University in France. His work is mainly in the field of quantum gravity, where he is among the founders of the loop quantum gravity theory. He has also worked in the history and philosophy of science. He collaborates regularly with several Italian newspapers, in particular the cultural supplements of Il Sole 24 Ore and La Repubblica, and is the author of numerous books including Quantum Gravity and The First Scientist: Anaximander and His Legacy. His most recent book, Seven Brief Lessons on Physics, is the single best-selling book in Italy of 2015, and has been already been awarded numerous prizes, including The Galileo Prize and the Masi Prize, from his home city of Verona. 5x15 brings together five outstanding individuals to tell of their lives, passions and inspirations.
