Friendship: more than havruta?

We find amazing guidance toward making everyone into a friend, a havruta, and a teacher. But this does not meet all of our human needs in friendship. There are people whom we love beyond their utility, and in this need, we may have ventured beyond what the Torah thinks of as friendship. Ruth and Naomi offer some guidance in this realm.
