Controversy at Summit of the Americas

Amanpour - Een podcast door CNN

Leaders from Canada to Chile are arriving today in Los Angeles for the ninth Summit of the Americas. But some of the region's most notable figures are nowhere to be seen. Host President Biden excluded his counterparts from Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela for their human rights record -- a move that prompted a boycott from Mexico President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. The squabbling over the guest list threatens to hinder the agenda focused on climate, migration and the pandemic. It also throws into question the power of America's influence in the region, just as China seeks a stronger foothold. Exploring these issues are former US Ambassador to Mexico Roberta Jacobson and CNN Correspondent Patrick Oppmann.  Also on today’s show: World Food Programme Regional Director for Eastern Africa Michael Dunford, UN Crisis Coordinator for Ukraine Amin Awad, author Jonathan Martin.
