French court approves retirement age boost

France’s highest constitutional court has approved a pension reform plan that has triggered months of anger and discontent. The controversial bill – which will raise the retirement age from 62 to 64 – could be enacted as soon as this weekend, and the new law has already put French President Emmanuel Macron under immense pressure. Nonetheless, he says reform is essential. Demonstrators are already back on the streets to voice their opposition, and correspondent Fred Pleitgen joins the show from the protest.
