Bro History Moderate Rebels Today we discuss the Syrian Civil War in more detail. The Syrian rebels were the armed wing of the opposition to the regime of President Bashar al-Assad. They first emerged on the scene after the Syrian Arab Spring. However, they do not represent the whole of Syria’s diverse opposition. Though some rebels seek liberty from the Assad regime that has been in power since the early 1970s, others are paid guns that have been imported into Syria to cause chaos. These hired guns have been responsible for some of the most heinous war crimes of the war. Syria lost control of her borders at the beginning of the war, so many extremist groups were able to just walk over the border of Syria and Iraq and dissolve into the ranks of rebel factions. In response to Donald Trumps’s announcement to withdraw from Syria, many of these rebels are surrendering to Syrian authorities. This leaves us with the question, was the U.S protecting some of these more nefarious actors in Syria? #45 Moderate Rebels szamotah
