In this week's episode, Uranio Paes interviews Beatrice Chestnut about one of her favorite topics—Dante’s Divine Comedy and its connections to the Enneagram. Bea studied English Literature in undergrad and has always been fascinated with analyzing literature and looking for themes within stories. She decided to read Dante’s Divine Comedy looking for not only the types and the passions but different elements about the Enneagram, especially as a path of spiritual transformation. In this 700 year old masterpiece that is still very relevant today, there are three sections, Inferno, Purgatory, and Paradise, which map out different states of awareness and the process to achieve higher states of being. This summer, Beatrice Chestnut returns to Florence, Italy to conduct a workshop to help students discover the intersections of Dante’s work with the Enneagram system through lectures, music, art, dialogue, meditation, and bodywork. Students will explore Florence’s ancient streets through daily excursions, piazzas, restaurants, food, and wine. We launched our book, The Enneagram Guide to Waking Up, which you can check out here.
