With that in mind, welcome to episode eighteen in the Investing Matter series, which is with the hugely talented, award winning Investment industry expert analyst, George O’Connor of Goodbody Stockbrokers, part of Allied Irish Bank, one of big four commercial banks in Ireland. Goodbody Stockbrokers is Ireland’s longest standing stockbroking firm with roots dating back to 1877. As well as being one of the leading institutional brokers, it is also one of the largest private client firms in Ireland managing assets of over €8 billion. After attaining a Double BA Honours Degree in European Studies at the University College Cork, George began his Information Technology career at IDC as an IT Analyst. Now with over 25 years of equity research experience in the Investment Industry that has included working for investment companies such as, Granville Davis, Albert E Sharp, Old Mutual Securities, Shore Capital, Panmure Gordon and more recently at Stifel as a Managing Director of its Software and IT Services research, it is fair to say that George knows the markets and what is needed for successful investing better than most. In this Investing Matters podcast, I discuss with George, the varied tasks and importance of a software analyst, how to value companies, his own investing style, the aspects of investing that matter to him, technology companies heading into the Metaverse.
