We hope this knowledge exchange benefits all and enables all those accessing and listening to these podcasts to achieve even greater investing success. With that in mind, welcome to episode fourteen of the Investing Matter series, which is with the highly sought-after business leader, Tim Rogers, the former CEO of AIM listed AB Dynamics. Tim grew up in rural Oxfordshire, studied Agriculture in College, but found that he actually enjoyed the engineering and science aspects of his course. His reward was a job with as he describes it “the mighty Exxon Corp”, with whom he was able to retrain and further study engineering at Oxford Brooks. During his time at Exxon, the multinational behemoth organisation, Jim gained significant experience and direct exposure across many specialisms and found he had a taste for “New business development”. Other roles in large multinationals followed Exxon, whereby Tim gained extensive international leadership experience including spells in Africa, China, India, Scandinavia and the Middle East. Including a stint as CEO and Executive VP of Nasdaq listed, Clean Diesel Technologies, Inc. Having cut is teeth as CEO of a US listed company, Tim was selected by unlisted AB Dynamics to be their Managing Director in October 2012 in preparation for their own stock market listing. In May 2013 AB Dynamics listed on London’s AIM exchange with a market capitalisation of a mere £14 million. ABDP quickly went onto win several significant global contracts, the company grew in scale and in revenues. In October 2016 Tim was appointed as their Chief Executive Officer and masterfully grew the company’s global footprint, brand recognition and revenues until February 2018, when Tim humbly decided someone else would be best suited to take the company to their next evolution of growth. At this time ABDP had achieved a stock market valuation of around £250 million. Since then, Tim has gone on to advise Private Equity and overseas companies on investments in clean tech, whilst also running his own company Albion Business Credit which in 2018 he set up with a former colleague. In this Investing Matters podcast, I discuss with Tim, life as a CEO, what investors should be looking for with regards to companies that have growth potential, what factors should investors look out for when CEOs/ insiders are buying or selling shares. The role of Nomads and Brokers, Engagement and Communications with Private Investors, his investing style and much more. We hope you enjoy this podcast, and we look forward to hearing your feedback.
