HT0406 - The Aspect Ratio of Human Vision

Here's a thought ... Human vision, including our peripheral vision, is an oval in an aspect ratio that is approximately 1.87 to one. Why, then, isn't it natural for photography to use the ubiquitous 16:9 aspect ratio as its standard?
