Bring your circumstances to Jesus

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - Een podcast door Norm Wakefield

John 2:3 When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.” Well, that was a big problem and quite embarrassing to the host. We don’t know at what point the wine ran out, but it became the setting for Jesus’ first miracle. Mary brought the situation to Jesus. Since Jesus is with us, we need to remember that every problem we encounter should be brought to Him. Let’s look at this situation from Jesus’ perspective. First, Jesus believes there is only one God from whom are all things, so He knows the situation has been given to Him from His Father. Second, He also knows that His Father’s love and doing His Father’s will is His greatest satisfaction for His soul. So, as we will see in the next verse, He isn’t swayed by the expectations of His mother, the host, or the attendees. So this situation is primarily between His Father and Him, not He, Mary, and the host. Third, Jesus knows that His Father’s purpose in this situation is to reveal the Father and bring Him glory. Jesus abides in the Father, and we know from John 8:28 and 14:10 that He doesn’t do anything or speak anything of His own initiative. So when He speaks or acts, we are seeing the Father at work. Have you realized that since Jesus lives in you, that every situation in your life, since you believed in Christ, is given to Jesus in you? It is given by the Father so you might glorify God by being most satisfied in Jesus’ love and will for your life and therefore reveal the presence and power of Christ in each situation. Just as in this situation at the wedding, every circumstance in your life as a believer in Jesus is given to you for the Father and the Son to be glorified and revealed. You aren’t the primary concern. The Father and the Son are the focal point. This is the mindset of living to love with Jesus. We have His worldview that shapes our responses to people and circumstances. To abide in Jesus is to think like Jesus. You know whatever happens in your life is being given by the Father to the Son living in you so that He can be glorified as you honor Him as God and find your soul’s greatest satisfaction in the love of Jesus and God’s will. Then you wait on Jesus to give you what you need to say or do to reveal that He lives in you. Whatever you receive, you give— if God’s word confirms that it is an expression of His truth and love. I invite you to become a partner in our ministry. Would you pray about becoming a regular supporter of Elijah Ministries and the Live to Love with Jesus ministry? I hope you will receive the joy and benefit of “giving it forward,” so others may receive encouragement to turn their hearts to God and to live to love with Jesus.
