Continue in His kindness

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - Een podcast door Norm Wakefield

Romans 11:22 Behold then the kindness and severity of God; to those who fell, severity, but to you, God's kindness, if you continue in His kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off. God has been kind and severe. His severity is shown in those who fall and are cut off. His kindness is shown in those who continue in His kindness. Today’s encouragement comes from the words, “but to you, God’s kindness, if you continue in His kindness.” Implied is that those who continue in His kindness express His kindness, namely, to the Jews, but I’m sure it’s also true to say those who express His kindness to all. We live to love with Jesus because He has loved us, and we have received His kindness. Everyone deserves God’s severity. Paul wrote to both the Ephesians and the Colossians that we all once walked in the lust of the flesh and deserve His wrath. If God has given you the Holy Spirit, then He has been kind to you instead of severe. He has poured out His love in your heart. If you abide in His kindness, you will be kind, patient, and loving with those whom God puts in your path. As we have seen, this verse was certainly a warning to the Roman Gentile church to not be arrogant toward the Jews or think that they were better than others, deserving the kindness they have received. They didn’t earn it. They simply received it from God, who has chosen to love them in Christ. And so it is with us who enjoy God’s kindness today. May we continue in His kindness for His glory.
