Hebrews 8:11 “And they shall not teach everyone his fellow citizen, and everyone his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for all will know Me, from the least to the greatest of them.” We are encouraged today by more aspects of the new covenant that God has instituted when He raised Jesus from the dead. Yesterday we learned that we are the new house of Israel, receptacles and retainers of God Himself and His love. Today we can be amazed at the power of the new birth. The new birth makes us receptacles of God, Himself. Because He lives in us, we know Him firsthand by experience. John the Baptist told his followers about what happens when Jesus brings life into a person, also called the new birth. Matthew 3:11. “As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” When Jesus’ life enters the soul of man, it signifies that the person is immersed into the death and life of Jesus. It means God knows that person, and Jesus has come to make God known to him or her. Eternal life, according to Jesus, is to “know the Father and the One whom He sent” (John 17:3). John put it this way in 1 John 4:7-9. “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him.” If you have been born again from above, by the Holy Spirit, you know the Lord firsthand. You don’t just know about Him; you know Him. You know He is love. There are no exceptions, writes the author of Hebrews, “all will know Me, from the least to the greatest of them.” We live to love with Jesus because we know the Lord. As John wrote in his first epistle. “We love, because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19). If you haven’t gotten the message yet, let me say it one more time. If you know the Lord, you will live to love with Him because you know and have experienced His love. Have you given up your life of loving yourself to love with Jesus? I hope so. If you haven't, there’s no better time than now to repent, believe that Jesus lives, and surrender your life to live to love with Him for the rest of your life. Even the least in the kingdom who know the Lord know He is love. If you hear God’s voice today, don’t harden your heart, but draw near to God through Jesus’ blood shed for you and embrace the life He has for you. To God be the glory.
