Expect the Holy Spirit to work supernaturally in others

John 1:49 Nathanael answered Him, “Rabbi, You are the Son of God; You are the King of Israel.” Yesterday, we noted the supernatural element in our love and concern for others as we live to love with Jesus. The Holy Spirit can give us a personal knowledge of people as He helps us be attentive to them. Nathanael’s conclusion from Jesus’ revelation that He knew him indicates another supernatural work as we love with Jesus. If you remember, Philip’s testimony to Nathanael was, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the Law and also the Prophets wrote-Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” Nathanael knew what Philip meant by it because he declared, “You are the Son of God; You are the King of Israel.” The statement seems convincing, doesn't it? There doesn’t seem to be any doubt or question in Nathanael’s mind. This testifies to another supernatural element to this encounter between Jesus and Nathanael—the revelation of who Jesus is by the Holy Spirit. This should encourage us that as we receive Jesus’ work in our own lives, we can expect the Holy Spirit to also work in the hearts of those we love with Him. Our confidence isn’t in our abilities or words but in His presence and power.
