Fellowship with God, the Father and the Son

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - Een podcast door Norm Wakefield

1 John 1:3 what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. Hi, I’m Norm Wakefield. I’m so glad you’ve tuned into today’s Live to Love Scripture Encouragement from 1 John 1:3 I hope you’ll be encouraged today by this amazing reality. If we have Jesus dwelling in our hearts, then we also have God, the Father, dwelling in us. As we live to love with Jesus, and fellowship with other believers, we are not only sharing life with our brothers and sisters, but we are sharing in the life of the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ! In Jesus’ last hour or so with His disciples He told them, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him” (John 14:23). If we have the Son, we have the Father. The presence and fellowship we have with one another as we love each other is indeed the fellowship of the Trinity. Notice what Paul wrote to the Romans in 8:9-11. We have the Trinity dwelling in us! “However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” What makes the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit one? It’s love. It is the perfect bond of unity in the Godhead and the perfect bond of unity in the believers. Be amazed today by these encouraging words from John. He wrote 1 John with this reality in mind. Everyone who experiences the love of the Father and Son as they fellowship with the eternal Word of Life has the basis for fellowship with each other. So the reason John wrote this letter was to provide the body of Christ with the truth of the gospel which he and the disciples had witnessed first hand so we could all enjoy sharing eternal life together with the Father and the Son.
