God is not unrighteous.

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - Een podcast door Norm Wakefield

Romans 9:14 What shall we say then? There is no injustice with God, is there? May it never be! Here we have the question Paul knew his readers might ask when they read God’s declaration that He loved Jacob, but hated Esau. Is God unjust to love Jacob and not Esau? Paul’s answer was an emphatic, “No!” He laid out the reasoning for his answer in the following verses. Is there any encouragement to love in this verse for us? Can’t we find great comfort in knowing that there is no injustice with God? The word translated injustice in this verse is translated unrighteousness in Romans 1:18; 3:5; and 6:13. Paul’s point was that there is no unrighteousness with God. His will and actions are always righteous. We may not be able to see it clearly on this side of eternity, but when “that day” comes, God will be seen to be just in all of His dealings with His creation and with His creatures. In the following verses Paul worked out his support for emphatically denying that there is any injustice or unrighteousness with God. Today, as we live to love with Jesus, we can be comforted by the truth that God is righteous in all His ways as He works or doesn’t work in the hearts of those we love. Like Paul, although we have sorrow and grief over those we love who reject God’s love revealed in Jesus and also reject His love through us, we can trust God’s wisdom, justice, and righteousness. This truth frees us to humble ourselves and simply love with Jesus everyone He puts in our lives. Acknowledgment: Music from “Carried by the Father” by Eric Terlizzi. www.ericterlizzi.com
