Romans 5:13-14 for until the Law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the offense of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come. Paul explained the amazing grace God has provided through Jesus Christ—the grace in which we stand. Salvation by grace through faith has rendered powerless all of the sins of those justified. Even before the Law came into the history of mankind through Moses, death reigned over every single person. They died according to God’s word because they sinned, even though their sins were not exactly like Adam’s specific sin. When the Law came, it defined their sins, and then they could be reckoned to their accounts. Paul wanted to show that Adam’s sin was taken into account as your sin. This transaction which plunged you into death was a type or model of another transaction which raised you into life and enables you to stand in grace. Be encouraged today by the love of God which reigns over sin and death as far as you are concerned—that is if you believe in/trust in the work of Jesus as the basis for your right standing with God. Let’s be amazed at the beauty of the love of God and the work of Christ, and may we be ready to share it with those God puts in our paths today.
