Romans 10:18 But I say, surely they have never heard, have they? Indeed they have; “Their voice has gone out into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.” Paul asked a question again that he thought his readers would pose after he explained how the righteousness based on faith is given. It illustrates for us how easy it is to lean toward reliance again on man for the administration of the gospel. What about those who have never heard? Has everyone really heard the good news? Paul turned to Psalm 19:4 to answer the question. Yes, God has made Himself known through the heavens. Psalms 19:1 “The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, and their utterances to the end of the world. In them He has placed a tent for the sun,” Paul repeated what he had written in chapter 1. Romans 1:19-20 “because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.” God has spoken and is speaking. Everyone has heard God’s revelation. Those under God’s wrath, do not hear or acknowledge God. The “whoevers” believe in God as the Spirit opens their hearts to hear and believe. Are you one of those who have ears to hear? Have you recognized the love of God expressed to you? You could not hear if the Lord Jesus had not spoken to you and given you a hearing heart. When your heart heard, you knew you were a “whoever” and you called on the name of the Lord and were saved. Knowing it was by God’s grace and power that we believe is what gives us confidence that God is able to save anyone He places in our paths. We love them with Jesus by speaking the good news to them and trusting Him to give them the ability to hear, understand, and believe unto salvation. Today, may be the day of salvation for someone you meet. May we be filled with the love of Jesus as we live to love with Him.
