Romans 10:12-13 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Paul’s main point in this verse is to zero in on “whoever” will call on the name of the Lord will be saved. For God to say, “whoever” broadens the scope beyond national Israel. For God, there’s no distinction between Jew and Greek because Jesus is Lord of all kinds of people and is abounding in riches for all kinds of people who call on Him. Understanding the all as “all kinds” rather than “every one without exception” is gained from both the context as well as the syntax. Paul used the word for “all” in the Greek without an article which makes it clear what he meant. When he uses an article, it means every without exception, but without the article, it means all kinds. He did the same thing in 1 Tim. 2:4 when he wrote about God, “who desires all (all kinds of) men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” Paul continued bolstering his case that not all Israel is Israel which he wrote in 9:6. God’s riches are available to all kinds of men, Jews and Greeks, men and women, old and young, rich and poor. God has made it clear when He said, “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” This encourages us today that we can offer the good news to people from every tribe, tongue, people, and nation. We can tell them that the riches of God’s grace are available to them without having to do the impossible to reach Him. Jesus is here. He is near. He is love. We are testimonies of this great truth that whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved. Living to love with Jesus is advancing the kingdom of God by loving whoever He puts in our paths. That “whoever” might be the very “whoever” God had in mind when he gave this wonderful promise. Remember the live to love prayer. Father in heaven, thank You for another day of life to know and love You and live to love with Jesus. Anoint and fill me with the Holy Spirit, the power the presence of Christ, so that I can love and trust You and love everyone (whoever) You put in my path today, for Your glory. Let’s be ready to give all those “whoevers” the glorious good news of the riches of God’s grace available in Jesus Christ.
