In Jesus, sin has lost its power and its grip

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - Een podcast door Norm Wakefield

1 John 3:5 You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin. Today we look at Jesus with John. There are two things we know about Jesus that apparently everyone else misses. Number 1: Jesus came to earth the first time to take away sins. Number 2: Jesus is sinless. Here’s today’s encouragement. Although in this life, we will never become sinless, we do sin less and less as we purify ourselves to reflect His life of love. If we experience the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, being led to put to death sin in the flesh (Rom 8:12-14), then we should be encouraged. That’s what Jesus came to do. If He’s taken away all of your sin, then He will lead you to continue to put it away. Furthermore, you know in Him there is no sin. He won’t sin and cannot sin. Besides taking away our sin at the cross, when He’s expressing His life through us, He’s also taking away sin. He’s overcoming the world and conquering our sinful natures with His love. We’ll receive more encouragement tomorrow along these lines, but for today, rejoice with me that Jesus has conquered our sin. He came to do it. He has done it, and He’s still doing it. Father in heaven, to You be the glory, that sin has lost its power to kill through the blood of Your Son, shed for us on the cross, and it has lost its grip on us, through His indwelling life and righteousness. We rejoice in You and in Your Son. What a great work of mercy and grace You have done for Your children. Thank You for Your love bestowed upon us today and everyday.
