Is this your definition of love?

2 John 6 And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it. What a tremendous encouragement to live to love with Jesus! John defined love as walking according to God’s commandments (plural). Then John said, “This is the commandment (singular) that you should walk in it.” It seems obvious from the context that the commandment is the one mentioned in the previous verse, namely, that we love one another. The commandment from the beginning for all believers was to walk in love. So what is love? I am going to assume that John had love for God in mind rather than love for the brethren because it makes more sense. Doesn’t it make sense that if one loves God then he intends to walk according to what He knows pleases Him? Let me now connect this love for God to living to love with Jesus. Within minutes of Jesus giving His disciples the command to love one another as He loved them, He promised to be with them and enable or help them obey the commandment. He actually told them that all they had to do was ask Him, and He would do it for them! John 14:12-14. “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father. Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.” The reason we should live to love with Jesus is that we love God. We love the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is love, so what pleases the Father is for us to believe in Jesus and walk in love with Him in the power of the Holy Spirit. Is that your definition of love for God?
