Hebrews 10:8-9 After saying above, "Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You have not desired, nor have You taken pleasure in them" (which are offered according to the Law), then He said, "Behold, I have come to do Your will." He takes away the first in order to establish the second. What a glorious gospel. Jesus has established the new covenant in His coming, His death, and His resurrection. What good news! For the apostle Paul, the gospel was the power of God, His boast, His main spring. Listen to what He wrote to the Corinthians in 1 Cor. 15:1-5. Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. The first covenant was not able to establish God’s will or bring about righteousness in God’s people. However, Jesus did accomplish God’s will. God justified us in Christ through His death and resurrection. Verses 8-9 tell us that God was doing something in the two statements in these two verses. He was taking away the old order of the first covenant, the Law, and establishing a new covenant—for us, you and me who believe—to live today.  Let’s begin this day with thankful hearts, appreciating the grace in which we stand. Then out of the fullness of Jesus’ life and love, let us love those He puts in our paths today. There will be great reward and fullness of joy. “Thank you, Father, for giving us Your Son as our high priest, through whom we have confident access so that we may receive mercy and grace in whatever circumstances You place us. Pour Your love through us for Your glory. Amen.
