Let His light shine

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - Een podcast door Norm Wakefield

Hebrews 1:3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, There’s so much in verse 3 that we’ll take a few days to get all the encouragement we can out of this verse. The word translated radiance is a compound word with a prefix meaning away or away from and a word that means brightness. Outflashing is a good synonym. The idea is that God is the glory like the sun; and the radiance, the rays of light streaming out from the sun, is Jesus. The writer continues describing the Son of God by using a term that describes an engraving tool that makes an exact stamp or imprint. The imagery the author used encourages me in my walk with Jesus. First, there is going to come a day, not in this age, that all of God’s children will be the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of Jesus. His life will be stamped on ours, and we will bear His imprint on our lives. There will be nothing about us that isn’t like Him. That’s true of Jesus now in His revelation of the Father. I can’t wait until that day! Once we are in that state, we will be the same forever. Second, it helps me to see Jesus at the center of my life and His love shining out of my life like the rays of the sun. I want that to be true of my life. Don’t you? As much as possible, may we be the radiance of His glory and the best representation of His nature by the grace of God, which is love. We have the Son of God living in us, so we can expect Him to be and do what He did when He walked in His own body of flesh. The more we abide in Him, the brighter and purer the radiance of His life. Just as God’s nature was imprinted on Jesus’ life, so we have His life imprinted on ours if we are believers. May this verse encourage us to let His light of love shine today.
