Hebrews 12:28 Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; There is nothing in heaven and earth that is not shaking because of the power of the word of God through Jesus Christ. He has overcome the world through the power of the cross and the resurrection, making everything that is seen unstable, insecure, and transient. It’s all passing away. In Christ, we receive a kingdom that cannot be shaken. It will remain forever. Even when the heavens and earth are destroyed with fire, the kingdom of heaven will be unshaken, and we are in that kingdom by the grace of God. The apostle Paul spoke of this eternal kingdom in 1 Cor. 13:8-14:1. The Corinthians were in conflict over the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and Paul wanted them to see they were missing what God has spoken in Christ, namely, that He is the way—the way of love—that will last forever. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. Pursue love. All of the gifts of the Spirit are part of this shakable world. Only one gift is unshakable. Only one gift will remain when our time on earth is done. Only one gift never ends for all eternity. It is the gift of love. This is a good place for me to emphasize again why I call you to live to love with Jesus in this world. Everything we pursue in this world is shakable and is going to pass away. Only one thing—living to love with Jesus—is not shakable. Jesus is the same forever, and He is love. He came to this earth to love with His Father, and that’s how He overcame the world. His purpose was and is unshakable. His blood speaks the love of God. It is in His life and the sacrifice of His life that we see what love is. That love speaks today through our lives, and what does it say to everyone in our paths? The very power of it shakes everything this world thinks is valuable, purposeful, and significant. If you are living for some other purpose, then your life is shakable, insecure, and passing away. It will all burn. However, if you are living to love with Jesus, no one can shake you or take it away from you. You live in a kingdom that cannot be shaken. Have you received His unshakable kingdom?
