Hebrews 10:36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised. All of us have need of endurance. We need to hold fast our confidence in Jesus’ life dwelling within us until the day we die or He returns. Some synonyms for endurance are steadfastness, perseverance, and to patiently wait. Today’s live to love scripture encouragement is to live to love with Jesus as the purpose for your life for the rest of your life. That is the will of God for you. God’s will is that you glorify God by living out of the life of Jesus, whom He gave to you and to whom He gave you. Jesus is only glorified if you believe He is God and you draw near to Him, abide in Him, and He lives through you. If you endure to the end, living to love in Jesus, you will receive the reward that has been promised to those who do so. The following verses unpack both the need for endurance and the reward, so I’ll try not to get ahead of myself. Today, perhaps you are like me. You’re in a how-long-is-this-going-to-last trial. Maybe you work or live with someone with whom it is hard to get along. You may be suffering physically with no remedy in view. We have a need for grace to endure. The only way we are going to glorify God is to receive our suffering well and, moment by moment until the end of our days, draw near to the throne of grace to receive mercy and grace to help in our time of need. That’s Heb. 4:16. Another aspect of piety is devotion to God’s will. We see this concept again in this verse. “When you have done the will of God.” There’s only one God from whom are all things, and He is love. Whatever or whoever comes into the course of our lives, whether good or bad, we know it is God’s will for us to draw near to Him for grace to trust and love. We believe that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him, so we hold fast to that promise so we may receive that great reward.
