Living under the shower of God’s grace

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - Een podcast door Norm Wakefield

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace. What a great encouragement we receive from this verse from the apostle Paul. If we are no longer under the dominion and demands of the Law, which we aren’t if we have died with Christ, and if we are under the blessing of God’s grace, then sin is not our master any more. Paul explained how it is that we are no longer under Law in chapter 7 of Romans. So we will get to that encouragement later in August. But for now, we can be encouraged by this glorious reality. We stand before a throne of grace, not a court of Law. God has justified us in Christ through faith (5:1) therefore we have peace with God and His grace covers and fills us. This grace in which we stand isn’t just a position of righteousness. From that position of righteousness flows the grace and ability to live righteously—to live to love with Jesus. Paul wrote earlier in 5:5 that the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit. He is our Master, the One to whom we have given the members of our body in His service. In union with Him, we have all that He is as the source of life. God chose us in Christ for this very purpose, namely, to use us as His instruments of love in this world. You can count on His supply of grace—whatever is needed—to love whoever He puts in your path today. You live under the shower of God’s gracious supply—a tsunami of love flowing continuously from the throne of grace through those who are His.
