No longer a dead man walking

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - Een podcast door Norm Wakefield

1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death. What a powerful verse of encouragement we have today from 1 John 3:14. Living to love with Jesus reveals that we have eternal life. Let’s notice that everyone who is born into this world is born dead. We abide in and remain in a state of separation from God, death, until we are given eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. Those who have eternal life, have Jesus, Himself, dwelling in them. Once God gave us the Holy Spirit, the very presence and power of Christ, to abide in us, we passed out of death into life—life eternal. John states very plainly how one knows he has passed out of death into life—he loves the brethren. He loves because Jesus loves the brethren in and through him. That’s the sign of life—loving with Jesus. Without the love of Christ evident in the life, we know that person doesn’t have life, they abide in death. They are literally, dead men walking through this world. That’s the state we all would be in if it were not for the great mercy and love of God. Those who experience God’s love are changed. The primary change is the implanted desire and ability to love their brothers and sisters in Christ. So if you are seeing Jesus love through you on a regular basis (not saying you love perfectly), then you have eternal life and have passed from death to life. That’s worth celebrating and rejoicing in today and everyday, don’t you think? Please join with me in doing so. Father, we are so grateful for the riches of Your mercy because of Your great love with which You have loved us, that has rescued us from death and given us life in Your Son. We love Your life and Your love. We love living to love with You. Thank you for our brothers and sisters in Christ. Thank you for the opportunities you give us to share Your love for them. We are so blessed and give You glory. Amen.
