Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - Een podcast door Norm Wakefield

John 2:5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” It seems obvious that Mary had some responsibility at the wedding that involved the serving of the wine. It was probably an act of love for dear family friends. Giving directions such as this indicates she had some jurisdiction over the servants. At this point, she introduced Jesus into the situation and gave Him jurisdiction over them. As we live to love with Jesus, that’s what we are to do in every situation. We recognize that He has jurisdiction, the right to speak, over our lives. You’ll notice, that’s exactly what she did. She gave Jesus the right to speak to the servants. As we go through each day, I encourage us to look to Christ, expecting Him to speak into our lives and into the lives of those we encounter. We can see from Mary’s directions to the servants that she fully expected Jesus to speak and act. That’s faith in action. Let’s be encouraged by Mary’s example. She loved her friends and hosts, the servants, and the guests at the wedding by bringing Jesus into the situation. That’s what living to love with Jesus is. It’s faith at work through love. We also can bring Jesus into every situation and relationship by recognizing His presence. He lives in us. We believe He will provide the grace needed in the moment, just as Mary did. I also am encouraged to have an attitude of attentiveness and obedience to Jesus and His word. When we read the Bible, we are paying attention to what Jesus says. The Word of God, applied to our lives by the Holy Spirit, is the same as listening to Jesus speak. Our response should be to do what we hear. I’m reminded of Jesus’ comment about who His family is. It’s recorded in Luke 8:21. “My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.” Like the servants, don’t we want to listen to whatever Jesus says and do it? So, our encouragement today is to have the same attitudes Mary and the servants had. Bring Jesus into every situation. Listen to Him, and then do what we hear. That describes well the live to love with Jesus adventure. Pay attention and obey. I invite you to become a partner in our ministry. Would you pray about becoming a regular supporter of Elijah Ministries and the Live to Love with Jesus ministry? I hope you will receive the joy and benefit of “giving it forward,” so others may receive encouragement to turn their hearts to God and to live to love with Jesus.
