Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - Een podcast door Norm Wakefield

1 John 5:9 If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for the testimony of God is this, that He has testified concerning His Son. We face today the same dangers to the faith as the first century believers. There’s the witness of man in contrast with the witness of God regarding His Son. The progressive so-called Christians today testify that Jesus was a normal man who lived an exemplary life because he truly understood how to live his best life. They testify that he and everyone in the world have the spirit of Christ, and that love is God. In stark contrast, the testimony of God concerning His son is that He, God took on human flesh through the virgin birth. He lived a perfect life and gave His life as a payment for sins, was buried, was raised by the power of God, has ascended to the right hand of God and has been given all authority in heaven and earth. The presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer is the witness that Jesus is in God, that we are in Him, and that Jesus is in us (John 14:20). John stated that the testimony of God is greater than the testimony of men. Men can say anything, but have no authority. However, when God speaks or testifies, He speaks with authority, for His words are verified by actions and transformed lives. Remember when Jesus forgave the lame man and the Pharisees accused Him of blasphemy? He countered with a question (Luke 5:23-25). “Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins have been forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? But, so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins,” — He said to the paralytic — “I say to you, get up, and pick up your stretcher and go home.” Immediately he got up before them, and picked up what he had been lying on, and went home glorifying God. The testimony of God was the healing of the lame man which verified that Jesus was the Son of God. Men who are transformed from selfish, self-glorifying, self-gratifying, self-centered living to God-glorifying, God-pleasing, Jesus-centered loving by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit are testimonies of God that Jesus is God’s son. Who can argue that man’s testimony is greater than God’s? It’s like saying a puddle of water is greater than the ocean. Or that a light bulb outshines the sun. It’s ridiculous and incredulous. The following verses will encourage us more regarding God’s testimony about Jesus. Today, be encouraged that your faith isn’t based on the ideas of man, but on the testimony and witness of God Himself regarding Jesus Christ. Your living to love with Jesus shouts that testimony loud and clear. It shines in the darkness like a beacon on a moonless night. Shout it loud. Shine it bright. Jesus is life. His life is light. And His light is love.
