The excitement of Andrew

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - Een podcast door Norm Wakefield

John 1:40-41 One of the two who heard John speak and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. He found first his own brother Simon and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which translated means Christ). It’s hard to imagine Andrew’s excitement when telling Simon Peter that they had found the Messiah. The nation of Israel had been waiting for Him since the time of Abraham and all mankind had been waiting since God’s promise to Eve recorded in Gen. 3:15. “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise him on the heel.” Now we know why Andrew wanted to know where Jesus was staying. He planned on getting his brother, Simon, to bring him to Jesus, and He did. I find it difficult to maintain my excitement about who I’ve found in Jesus because I’ve been so familiar with Him for most of my life. It’s easy for the love and excitement to grow cold over time. I need verses like this one to remind me that we not only have found the anointed One, but He has also found us and has come to live in us to keep the fire burning and keep us passionate about living to love with Him. He has anointed us in the Holy Spirit, who has taken up residency in our souls and bodies. We are where He stays. What does that mean? Whereas Andrew had to bring his brother, Simon, to where Jesus stayed, whoever comes into our path has come to Jesus in us. We may introduce them to Him by the way we love and share our excitement about Him in the power of the Holy Spirit. May God fill us with the excitement of Andrew in bringing others to Jesus. I invite you to become a partner in our ministry. Would you pray about becoming a regular supporter of Elijah Ministries and the Live to Love with Jesus ministry? I hope you will receive the joy and benefit of “giving it forward,” so others may receive encouragement to turn their hearts to God and to live to love with Jesus.
