John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. The Word which was in the beginning with God, was God, through whom all things were made, who was both Life and Light, became flesh and lived among John and his fellow disciples. The writer of Hebrews explained why the Word became flesh in 2:14-15, 17-18. Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives. Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted. But this verse tells us there’s more. He came to reveal the glory of God. Hebrew’s author echoes this declaration about Jesus: “And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power” (1:3). We learn in this verse from John that Jesus was unique in the flesh. There was never, nor will there ever be, anyone like Him to take on flesh. He is the one and only man in whom was the glory of God seen in its fullest measure. What made Jesus unique was that He was full of grace and truth. That cannot be said about any human being. He was full—overflowing with grace and truth. This is the quality of life dwelling inside of all who believe. There’s a fulness in Christ that is not available from any other source in this world. We live to love with Jesus because apart from Him, we can do nothing to bring God glory. “The Father is glorified by this, that we bear much fruit, and so prove to be His disciples” (John 15:8). With Jesus as our life source, we may draw upon His fullness of grace and truth. I hope that today, we will recognize the glorious reality of who Jesus is and what our purpose is in Him. We live to reveal the glory of God in Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh, not once, but multiplied in all of our lives. I invite you to become a partner in our ministry.
