We have been joined to Jesus so we can bear fruit for God.

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - Een podcast door Norm Wakefield

Romans 7:4 Therefore, my brethren, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. Today we may be encouraged by the wonderful liberating work of God in Christ Jesus on the cross. Having been united with Christ, by God’s doing, according to 1 Cor. 1:30, we were made to die to the Law. The Law bound us to our first husband, Adam, but through the body of Christ, in His death, the old sinful life in Adam died. Since he is dead, we could be joined to Jesus, who was raised from the dead. Jesus, as Paul wrote earlier in 6:10, now lives His life to God. He has become our new husband, and He enables us to bear fruit for God.  That’s a fit description of what living to love with Jesus is: bearing fruit for God through Jesus Christ. That’s exactly what Jesus taught His disciples in His last discourse. John 15:4-5; 7-8. “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing…If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.” To “bear fruit” doesn’t mean produce fruit. The idea of the word “bear” is to carry or display. With Jesus as our husband so to speak, we have been impregnated with the life of God. The fruit of the life of God is love. It’s the proof that indeed we have been joined to Jesus. Our fruit looks like Him!!! Today, let us display the fruit of the Son of God, Jesus Christ, and prove that we are His disciples and His bride. I hope you’ll share this podcast with others so they too can be encouraged to bear fruit for God for His glory by living to love with Jesus.
