We have security in the love of Jesus.

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - Een podcast door Norm Wakefield

Romans 8:35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Yesterday, we were encouraged from Rom. 8:34, that Jesus who died for us and was raised for our justification, who sits at the right hand of God also intercedes for us. In this verse, we see that Paul glorifies Christ by telling his readers that Jesus loves them with an everlasting, steadfast love. His love cannot be taken away from us! Of course the answer to his question, “Who will separate us from the love of Christ?” is No one and no thing. What security and peace we have as the foundation of our lives! The list of possible separators was real to his readers. Tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril, and sword. Those may not be as relevant to us, but the list you and I could generate will also not be things or people who have the power to separate us from His love. At the top of the list might be—are you ready for this?—ourselves. We can’t even separate ourselves from His love because His love is a love of choice—not based on anything in or about us, but upon His character. God is love, and Jesus is God. If God is for us because He loves us, then Jesus is for us because He loves us. I hope you’ll take comfort and courage today from this great truth: God has set His affections upon us and given us His Son, Jesus Christ, to be our life, our righteousness, and our hope of glory. We live to love with Jesus out of the fullness and inexhaustible resource of His steadfast, unassailable, victorious, glorious, infinite love.
