We love for the sake of the truth

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - Een podcast door Norm Wakefield

2 John 2 for the sake of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever: We are encouraged today as John shared why he and all those who love the truth love each other. The reason we live to love with Jesus is for the sake of the truth that Jesus is God and lives in us. Jesus is the truth, and He abides in us, dwells in us, and will always be with us. These words remind us of what our Lord Jesus told John and the rest of His disciples in John 15:5 and 8. “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing…My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit (and the fruit is love), and so prove to be My disciples.” He had only moments before told them, “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever, that is the Spirit of truth…I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you” (14:16-18). The truth that Jesus is God’s Son, who dwelled in human form, died for our sins, was buried, and raised because of our justification is verified by His presence in our lives as He lives to love in us. He loves His bride, the church, through all who know the truth, and we love for the sake of that truth. This means that our lives are not about us. Our conflicts and problems with each other are not about us, but about Him. They occur so we might glorify God by forgiving and loving one another. We love for the sake of the truth. This is our live to love encouragement today. Know and intentionally live today for the sake of the truth. Make your life about His life in you. It’s not you who lives, but Christ, who lives in you, as the apostle Paul wrote, describing himself in Gal. 2:20. What a privilege we have to love for the sake of the truth. Such purpose fills our lives with purpose, meaning, and joy. We love for the sake of the truth.
