Hey Full House Fans, Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast. Today, I covered Full House S2E7: Joey Gets Tough, which aired on November 25, 1988. In this episode Joey and DJ's relationship becomes strained when she is an hour late returning home and forgets to call a worried Joey who is beside him and imagining the worst has happened to her. In order to start pulling rank and proving to Danny that he can be an authority figure and disciplinarian, during his heated confrontation with DJ, he forbids he from competing in her karate tournament that she's been practicing for months on. The side plot has Jesse and his band performing on Wake-Up San Francisco as a way to promote his weekend gig at Slims and fill the venue. Danny and Becky's producer only agrees to have the band on if Danny could do a number with the band, which he does and completely takes over as lead singer hijacking the song Proud Mary and ad libbing lyrics, while performing an array of ridiculously erratic dance moves that I can only imagine makes Jesse's band a laughing stock and they end up losing the gig. That's just my guess though on the last part. Back at home tensions are high as DJ is avoiding Joey like the plague all the while giving him the cold shoulder. The family has a meeting where DJ exclaims "Dad, help. Everyone's against me. Why are you doing this to me? This leads to Danny, DJ and Jesse getting into a screaming match until Joey grabs the yellow wiffle bat and tells everyone to stop fighting and then Joey reveals he grew up in a home where his parents were always fighting and yelling at each other. And doesn't want this household to succumb to that. In really felt it was unnecessary for Jesse and Stephanie (especially Stephanie) to be there. This was between DJ, Joey and Danny, let them work it out. Finally DJ retreats to her room after not getting her way. Joey follows her and they have a heart to heart (one of the few we see between them in this show)they re establish their strong bond and he changes his mind and re grounds her for next weekend so she can go to her karate tournament. DJ doesn't learn a real lesson as she ts her way. Joey once again waffles on being the authority figure and we are back to square one. Better Luck Next Time Joey. Have a good week everyone!
