Concerns are mounting over the prevalence of algal blooms off the coast of South Australia. Marine animals have been washing up dead on the coastline and swimmers and surfers are also being urged to avoid the blooms. Meanwhile the Coorong's north lagoon - south-east of Adelaide - has for the first time recorded a bloom of one particular algae and ecologists and locals are worried about what its arrival could mean for the environment.
