Beijing has reasserted its claim over a disputed reef in the South China Sea with state media showing members of China's coast guard posing with a Chinese flag on the sandbank. Both China and the Philippines have staked their claims to a string of islands and reefs in the area, with physical confrontations, collisions and even threats of force becoming more frequent in recent years.
