Criminal trial begins for ex-South Korean president

Four months ago, South Korea's then-president Yoon Suk Yeol sent the country into its worst political crisis in decades by declaring martial law and sending military troops into the capital Seoul. Today the ousted president will stand trial on charges of insurrection after he was indicted in January for alleged rebellion.  If found guilty, he could face the death penalty, or life imprisonment.
