Dry spells intensifying in Australia and western Europe

Radio National Breakfast — Separate stories podcast - Een podcast door ABC listen - Donderdagen

Droughts in South Australia and western Victoria show no sign of letting up, but the locals looking for rain in Australia aren't alone. Farmers in the United Kingdom are also wondering where the water has gone as the United Kingdom's Met Office predicts they are on track for one of the driest springs on record. There has also been an unusually small amount of rainfall in continental Europe which, combined with a warm spring , could lead to a blazing northern hemisphere summer.  Guest: Dr Georgy Falster, Climate Scientist at the University of Adelaide  Producer: Rob Kelly
