During the 2024 United States presidential election, Donald Trump jumped behind the microphone for more than a dozen podcasts, sometimes for hours at a time. According to the global firm Edison Research, these podcasts helped him to secure an audience reach of more than 23 million people in an average week. Fast-forward almost six months and Australia's own politicians have sat on sofas in front of podcast mics, in the hope of winning the hearts and minds of voters.
