Liberty Bell Bay smelter 'on limited operations'

The operator of Liberty Bell Bay has announced it will pause production at is manganese alloy smelter in Tasmania's north while they try to secure new sources of ore.  While no redundancies have been announced, the majority of its 250 staff have been asked to take leave. The decision comes three months after the Whyalla Steelworks in South Australia, owned by Liberty Bell Bay's parent company GFG Alliance, was forced into administration.
