The civil war in Sudan has now entered its third year, with the conflict estimated to have claimed tens of thousands of lives and displaced 13 million people. The United Nations has called the conflict one of the worst humanitarian nightmares in recent history, with 25 million people facing extreme levels of hunger, including about five million children and mothers suffering acute malnutrition.
