Janice Hoffman – The Three Appreciations

Speaking of Partnership: Personal Stories of the Power and Payoffs of Partnership - Een podcast door Ken Bechtel

Janice Hoffman is not just any speaker, trainer and award winning author.  She has the unique background of being personally trained by Dr. John Gray – author of “Men are From Mars, Women are From Venus”, as his first Mars Venus Facilitator. She then proceeded to become the training director of the Mars Venus Institute and help train over 550 Mars Venus Facilitators worldwide. This experience with Dr. Gray led her to write “Relationship Rules ~ 12 Strategies for Creating a Love That Lasts.”  A book that condenses the Mars / Venus philosophy into 12 easy-to-use strategies.  Since 1997, Janice has been presenting her “Get Smart Dating” program to teens in Colorado., providing teens a place to learn what guys and girls are thinking, and why they behave the way they do when it comes to dating. Guiding Principle, Quote or Mantra Remembering that as men and women we are different.  And because we are different we have different values. Tripped Up in a Partnership When Janice used to tell her ex-husband over and over again what hurt her feelings or did not work for her.  Then she learned that as long as she gets her man’s attention and clearly states what did not work and what she would prefer in the future and then drops it she fares much better.  She sets him up to win. The “DUH” moment that changed your partnerships forever Her and her husband attended John Gray’s workshop after going to 10 different therapists and at the end of the day her husband said “You’ve never appreciated me.”  He moved out two days later and they have been divorced ever since. Here DUH moment was when she realized that men will gravitate towards where the appreciation lives. Proudest moment in partnership Having broken the cycle of abuse she came from, with her kids. Current Partnership that Has You Excited Two new friends from a mastery program that have her really excited about life.  And a partnership with a teen home in Boulder, Colorado where she may be providing her Get Smart Dating program for the teens there. What is the best partnership / relationship advice you have ever received? Marianne Williamson provided two great tips.  One is, who among us has not done fill in the blank?  We very likely have done the same thing just on a different day. And the second one is about turning arrows into roses.
