I think many things could happen with the Darksaber...one wild theory is that Luke could end up defeating Cad Bane, who could have beaten the Mandalorian, and therefore making Luke the rightful ruler of Mandalore. This would obviously be super weird and out of place, as then who would beat Luke to claim it from him? He wouldn't even care for it.  Or if Boba Fett steps in and defeats someone who took out Mando, making him the ruler of Mandalore.
