Awesome Astronomy - The Antikythera Mechanism
The 365 Days of Astronomy - Een podcast door 365DaysOfAstronomy.org
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDU3XX49quI Ralph Wilkins hosts. Damien Phillips, John Wildridge and Dustin Ruoff produce. From Feb 25, 2022. This is the machine made over a thousand years ahead of its time! Made in ancient Greece more than 2,000 years ago and lost in the Aegean Sea. It was so sophisticated that nothing like it would be invented or made for another 1,500 years. Found in a shipwreck by sponge divers, the Antikythera Mechanism has been compared to a computer and often seen as the most advanced technology the world had seen. Not just for it’s time but more advanced than anything we’d see until the 1400s. Thanks to Jonathon Zellar for suggesting this incredible subject!
