Eddie has high hopes for his cider at the upcoming Flower and Produce Show. Oliver’s not sure Eddie’s approach to winning the Freda Fry Cup by nobbling prospective entrants is a good one. But Eddie’s worried he won’t win if he doesn’t take out the opposition. In fact, he’d like Oliver’s help to persuade the Bull not to enter their hanging baskets. Oliver’s sceptical, while Eddie reckons all it needs is a subtle hard luck story – from Oliver. But Oliver’s attempt backfires when Kenton and Jolene regale him with their own tale of woe about lockdown and hard times. The hanging baskets might shine a bit of light for the Bull. Oliver decides not to pursue his own sob story. Pat and Peggy chat about how strange it will be without Shula and Jennifer entering the Flower and Produce Show. Peggy’s still regretting her actions in not telling Jennifer sooner about Alice’s problems. They’re hardly speaking and she misses her. Later, Jennifer admits to Pat she feels she should have noticed the signs with Alice sooner. Pat assures her it’s never that simple. When Jennifer comments that Peggy’s made things worse, Pat suggests it might be time to heal those wounds. Jennifer visits Peggy, and a thaw begins, though Jennifer can’t forget what happened. Peggy gives her daughter a treasured old prayer card she got from the hospital caring for Jack Archer more than sixty years ago. Jennifer’s touched. Peggy was grateful to the chaplain who gave her the card – it’s much better to talk than keep things hidden away.
