In this episode, CJ talks with Mark Jacob, one of the three co-authors of the recently published book Aftershock: The Human Toll of War (published by CityFiles Press). This book presents an extensive collection of photos from the last year of World War II (many of which have never been seen before by the public) taken by US military photographers, scanned from the original negatives to give amazing picture quality, providing a unique, unfiltered, and often disturbing glimpse of what the latter phases of the largest total war in human history actually looked like. In many cases the authors have been able to research the backstories of the photos, and have provided descriptive captions that add detail and further humanize the stories told by the images.
