The God Shot: Revelation 21:6-7

"He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children." (Revelation 21:6-7)God gives to us without payment. Otherwise, it wouldn't be a gift. What do we even have to give to the God of the Universe in return for the water of life anyway? In the Gospel of John, Jesus refers to Himself as the water of life. We get Jesus free of charge. He rescues us and doesn't send an invoice. On the contrary, He sends a deposit, His Spirit, who comes to dwell in us again for free. When someone asked Martin Luther what he contributed to his salvation, he allegedly said, "sin and resistance". I can relate, yet the Father freely gives the Son and the Spirit to us. He's where the joy is!
