'Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”' (Romans 8:35-36)The Apostle Paul wrote these words in a letter to the Christians in Rome who were experiencing persecution and death because they refused to worship the Roman Emperor. Despite their terrifying trials, Paul points to their eternal hope. They've been adopted into God's family so their status as God's kids is eternal. Nothing can separate us from God's love! In verse 36, Paul quotes a line from a song about how the people felt forgotten by God and he immediately follows it by saying, "No, this isn't the case for us." Not only has God not forgotten you, but He's using your trials to bless you in the long run. He's where the joy is!
