In this guest episode, I sit down with Natali Stajcic of On Balance. Natali and I met years ago when we were both launching wellness start up's in the food and beverage industry. A stressful time, to say the least, but not only that, also a very testing and transformational one in terms of getting to know ourselves better. We both experienced huge amounts of self-doubt and anxiety during that time in our lives, as a side affect of running a business, and both believe it subsequently led us to search for very different kinds of wellbeing, beyond the food we were eating. This episode is led by our mutual experiences with imposter syndrome, self-doubt, low self-worth and lack of self-acceptance, as well as dealing more generally with anxiety and bouts of depression. We focus a lot on the importance of self-inquiry - that is, spending time with yourself asking questions that can guide you to have a deeper sense of self-understanding. This is something we both believe plays a key role in wellbeing and finding happiness and contentment. We also talk about the importance of self-compassion, and how being accepting and compassionate to yourself is also key in moving through dark or low times, with more ease and understanding. We talk about noticing the ego and the importance of exercising more awareness in things, everyday. We talk about understanding your personal needs more, and how to integrate regular tools and practices into your routines in order to give yourself what you need from one day to the next, and also in order to feel motivated, capable and prepared for whatever comes your way. We also talk about the hidden beauty and magic in any rock bottom in your life, and how sometimes the most disruptive and painful experiences are the ones we need most; and the ones that completely improve and enhance our experiences on the other side of the discomfort.
