In 2013, two university professors set out to answer a question no one was asking, "Can robots trust humans?" But, unfortunately, the answer is apparently not. David Harris Smith and Frauke Zeller wanted to understand if there were reasons for robots to turn on humans like we often see in movies. The experiment used a robot designed to hitchhike across Canada to test the ability of humans to take care of robots. The investigation was a huge success and stirred up much publicity. So the professors decided to try it out in other countries. Things went great for Hitchbot country after country until they tried the US. The second Hitchbot entered Philadelphia, someone tore it to pieces and left it on the side of the road. Things I Learned Last Night is an educational comedy podcast where best friends Jaron Myers and Tim Stone talk about random topics and have fun all along the way.
